Ruth Mae Wambaugh

Ruth Mae Wambaugh, 88, of St. Joseph, passed away Thursday, December 25, 2014 at Hanson Hospice Center in Stevensville.

 A Celebration of Life Service will be held at 2:00 P.M., on Monday, December 29, 2014 at Starks & Menchinger Chapel and Cremation Service, 2650 Niles Rd., St. Joseph, with Pastor Richard Hennig officiating. Friends may visit with the family from 1:00 P.M. until 2:00 P.M. prior to the service at the funeral home. Inurnment will be held at Riverview Cemetery at a later date. Memorials may be made to Children’s Hospital of Michigan Cardiovascular Surgery Department, Hospice at Home, or St. Matthew’s Lutheran Church. Those wishing to share a memory of Ruth may do so at

 Ruth was born September 5, 1926 in Keeler, Twp., to Kenneth and Irene (Fruzen) Brownell. She married Floyd Wambaugh on June 8, 1946 in St. Joseph. Ruth was a wonderful homemaker for her husband and daughter, Susan, for many years. She also worked at V-M and Cooper Wells Assembly in St. Joseph. Ruth was a member of St. Matthew’s Lutheran Church and involved in their Ladies Aid group. She enjoyed taking camping trips with her husband and going out to dinner with her family and friends.

 Ruth is survived by her husband, Floyd of 68 years of marriage; daughter, Susan and Larry Engler of St. Joseph; and granddaughter, Emily Engler of Mishawaka, siblings, Doris Glenn, Lowell Brownell, June Dings, Dorothy Pullano, Roy Brownell and Eleanor Lambrecht.

 Ruth was preceded in death by her parents, siblings Ray Brownell, Kenneth Brownell and Jean “Billy” Head and was also reunited with her grandson, Stephen Milnikel, in heaven on his 37th birthday.
