William J. “Bill” Christians



William J. “Bill” Christians, 80, of Berrien Springs, passed away, Saturday, July 12, 2014 at his home.

A Celebration of Life Memorial Service will be held 1:00 P.M. Saturday, July 19, at Starks & Menchinger Chapel, 2650 Niles Rd., St. Joseph.  Friends may visit with the family from Noon until 1:00 P.M. at the funeral home.  Memorial donations may be made to the family.  Those wishing to sign Bill’s Memory Book online may do so at www.starks-menchinger.com.

Bill was born July 1, 1934 in Saginaw, MI, to John & Marcella (Herrick) Christians. He graduated from Benton Harbor High School in 1953.  Bill held several positions in retail and manufacturing corporations including Voice of Music, Leco Corp., K-Mart and Wal-Mart, but was especially proud of his work as a firefighter at a National Park in the Tennessee Mountains. He received many certificates of achievement for his work as a Forest Ranger.  Bill was very involved in the Warren County Senior Center and received several certificates of appreciation for his devotion of time and services.  He enjoyed doing artwork, dancing and bowling.  Bill loved his family and especially enjoyed his grandchildren.

Bill is survived by his children, David (Joanne) Christians of Berrien Springs, Kenneth (Sue Ghist) Christians of Benton Harbor and Cindy (Bruce Farquhar) Haines of St. Joseph; the mother of his children, Mildred Christians; ten grandchildren; and seventeen great-grandchildren.  He was preceded in death by his parents; son, Darrell “Jim”; sister, Alice Tatro; brothers, Robert and Richard; son-in-law, Larry Haines; special friend, Bessie Morgan; and great-grandchildren, Bryce Dixon and Mica Christians.
