The Women of Lockerbie at Twin City Players

The Twin City Players announces the next show of its 2019-2020 Mainstage Season, The Women of Lockerbie, by Deborah Brevoort. The show is a recipient of the Kennedy Center Fund for New American Plays Award and Silver Medal Onassis International Playwriting Competition winner.

The Women of Lockerbie transports the audience to the hills of Scotland seven years after Pan Am Flight 103 was destroyed in 1988 by a terrorist bomb and crashed into the small village, killing all 243 passengers, 16 crew members, and 11 individuals on the ground. It tells the plight of a mother from New Jersey traveling to Scotland to find her son’s remains. She meets the women of Lockerbie, who are fighting the U.S. government to obtain the clothing of the victims found in the plane’s wreckage. Determined to convert an act of hatred into an act of love, the women want to wash the clothes of the dead and return them to the victims’ families. Inspired by a true story, the characters and situations in the play are fictional. Written in the structure of a Greek tragedy, the play is a poetic drama about the triumph of love over hate.
