Elaine Dame Duo Brings Chicago Jazz to the Box Nov. 4
ST. JOSEPH, MI – Stevensville native Elaine Dame has risen to the top ranks of Chicago jazz singers. The “jazz dynamo” will return to southwest Michigan for an intimate evening of music along with celebrated jazz guitarist Andy Brown. The duo performs Saturday, November 4, 7 to 9 p.m., at the Box Factory for the Arts, 1101 Broad St.
Advance tickets are $12 general admission and $15 for cabaret seating (reserved tables in front), available at ticketstripe.com/elainedame. Tickets at the door are $15. The concert is free for children 12 and under. A cash bar will be available.
Called a “jazz dynamo” and “a gem in the city's vocal jazz scene" by Time Out Chicago, Dame has been capturing attention at venerable jazz venues from coast to coast, including the Chicago Jazz Festival, the Rainbow Room and 54 Below in New York City, and Herb Alpert's Vibrato Jazz Grill in L.A. A graduate of the Theater Repertory Program at California State-Northridge, Dame worked for years in Chicago’s theater scene before turning her focus to jazz. The Chicago Reader wrote, "Ms. Dame has a winning stage presence and a chameleon-like vocal flexibility."
Accompanying Dame is Chicago jazz guitarist Andy Brown, who has worked at many of the city’s finest jazz venues and continues to play weekly solo performances at The Green Mill and lead his quartet at Andy’s Jazz Club. He counts Barbra Streisand’s 2009 appearance on the Oprah Winfrey Show among the many high-profile singers he has accompanied.
