Margaret Platts Obituary

Margaret “Peggy” Platts, of St. Joseph, MI, our dear 95-year-old mother passed away peacefully November 25th, 2024.

Peggy was born April 17, 1929, in Chicago, IL to Roy & Margaret (Hofmann) Enyart. She graduated from Morgan Park High School in Chicago and attended Western Michigan University where she was a member of the Alpha Beta Epsilon.

In earlier years, she worked as a massage therapist and did oil painting. Tapping her father’s talent, she produced some beautiful art. She also enjoyed a long stint in the band, Missfits, singing fun music for the entertainment of others.

Peggy lived independently in the home she’d spent 65 years in, right up to the end. She was a fierce advocate for the welfare of animals, both domestic and wild. She religiously fed the birds and wild animals in her backyard. She supported charity organizations with that same mission. She was also a regular contributor to The Goodfellow Fund. Peggy enjoyed the fellowship of activities at the senior center, especially her regular exercise classes and playing board games every Monday as well as book clubs.

“Mom” enjoyed a long and full life up to the end, without pain or extended illnesses and we are grateful for her time here on earth.

Peggy is survived by two sons, John Zanders and Robert Zanders and daughter, Jane (Tom Johnson) Cone. She’s also dearly missed by granddaughters, Katie Zanders and Maggie Zanders.

She was preceded in death by her parents and brother, John Enyart.

Friends may visit with the family from 5:00 P.M. until 7:00 P.M., Friday, November 29, 2024 at Starks & Menchinger Chapel and Cremation Service, 2650 Niles Rd., St. Joseph. A memorial service will be held at a later date in the Spring. In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to the St. Joseph Lincoln Senior Service Center or Pathway Global Methodist Church.
