Richard E. Jackson Obituary

Richard E. Jackson, 80 of Stevensville passed away on Saturday, March 8 at Corewell Health Lakeland in St. Joseph.

A memorial service with military honors will be held at Duffield & Pastrick Family Funeral Home in Coloma on Wednesday, March 19 at 1:00 P.M. Visitation will begin one hour prior to the service. Burial of ashes will follow at North Shore Memory Gardens. Memorial donations in Richard’s memory may be made to the Stevensville American Legion. Richard was born September 27, 1944 in South Bend to James and Claire (Elbel) Jackson. He served his country in the Army during the Vietnam Era and was employed by Bosch for 31 years until his retirement in 2003. Richard was an active member at Pilgrim Congregational Church in St. Joseph, and was also a member of numerous clubs including ABATE, JAB, RVETS, DAV and Rolling Thunder. He enjoyed riding motorcycles with his friends, hunting, fishing and bowling along with helping out his fellow veterans and spending time with family.

Richard is survived by his children Jennifer (Allen) Rosenthal of St. Joseph, Raymond Jackson, Jeremy Jackson and James Jackson all of Stevensville; grandchildren Kayla Rosenthal of St. Joseph, Cameron (Mercedes) Rosenthal of Berrien Springs and Gavin (Charlee) Rosenthal of Berrien Springs; great grandchildren Flynn and Winston Rosenthal and Rowan Rosenthal; and sister Judith Jackson of Benton Harbor. Also surviving are nieces Melissa Thar, Mary Jackson, Carrie (Butch) Fogarty, Robin DePalma; nephew Robert Sturgeon; great nieces Emily Thar, Ivy (Jake) Sanders, Cellie (Drew) Olando; great nephews Andre (Shawnee) Brown, Christopher Thar, Damian Maynor, William Fogarty, and Nicholas Fogarty.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife Diane Jackson in 2022; sister Rose Sturgeon and brothers Robert, Jimmy and Ronnie Jackson.
