Robert Eugene Spruell Obituary
Robert Eugene Spruell “Bob”, 75, passed away peacefully at home on Thursday, April 10, 2025. He was born July 18, 1949 in Benton Harbor, MI to Murrell and Violet Spruell.
Bob proudly served his country during the Vietnam War with the US Navy. He was stationed aboard the USS Kitty Hawk as a member of the “Black Lions” Squadron VF213. Bob was extremely proud of his time spent in the service, something he carried with him dearly.
He married the love of his life, Christine Spruell, on January 20, 1968 in Benton Harbor. They worked hard and raised their family together for 53 years until her passing in 2021.
A welder by trade, he owned his own welding company for many years; however, retired as a maintenance supervisor. Bob loved God, his country, and his family. He enjoyed his coffee, fishing, watching TV and movies, gardening, cooking and retelling stories of his youth. He could do and fix anything, a genuine jack of all trades. You could often find him brainstorming his next project, task, or “invention”.
Bob will be greatly missed by his family that includes his children, Cindy (Tom) Angelo, and Robert “Bobby” Spruell; his grandchildren, Leah Hodder, Sarah Stovern, and Jack Stovern; his great grandchildren, Charli and Brooks; and his sister, Deborah (Butch) Bush.
He is preceded in death by his wife and best friend, Christine Spruell; his siblings, Sandy and Cheryl Spruell; and his parents.
