The SMSO will hold an Education Concert
The SMSO will hold an Education Concert, the first of its kind held by the symphony, on Friday, April 12. We have nearly 1,200 students from both public and private schools throughout Berrien County who will attend the concert at the Mendel Center.
This symphonic concert for third and fourth graders will introduce them to the different instrument families, what sounds to listen for and experience music they know, but not necessarily associate with symphonic music. Imagine hearing the Star Wars theme without the brass instruments, what does that sound like? What was the composer thinking when they wrote Seven O'clock Shout? These and more are some of the questions that SMSO Maestro Matthew Aubin and the professional musicians of the SMSO will answer at the concert.
We believe it is important for children to experience all types of music and as we strive toward our mission of Transforming All Lives Through Music, this concert allows us to reach and inspire students.
