13 Unique Artists Fill the Box Factory Galleries for the
Series 5 Exhibition with a September 11 Opening Reception!
13 artists, each with their own stories and creative processes, will be on exhibit at the Box Factory for the Arts from September 11 - October 25. The public is invited to meet the artists at the Opening Reception on Friday, September 11, from 5:30-8 pm. Light snacks and drinks at the Box Bar will be available. The evening will include henna artist Jahara Begum, a performance by Judy Van Kuiken on traditional Chinese guitar, and a dance performance by Sangeeta Gosh. Williams Gallery (main level)
Global Gathering, on display in the Williams Gallery, brings together eight international artists who now call Michiana home: Ann Pinkerton (Grand Rapids, MI), Alla Dickson (Zeeland, MI), Harminder Boparai (Grandville, MI), Jessica Hightower (Benton Harbor, MI), Arturo Romero (Grand Rapids, MI), Sunday Mahaja (Goshen, IN), Sri McCarthy (Grand Rapids, MI), and Mari Barros (St. Joseph, MI). These artists come from diverse cultural backgrounds, each sharing personal stories through a unique visual language to celebrate identity, heritage, and community while exploring how art can build connections across cultures.

Bonnie Zimmer of Rensselaer, IN exhibits her fiber vessels, sculpture, and assemblages in the Whitlow Gallery. Working with natural and found materials and various fiber techniques, Zimmer creates vessels, sculpture, and assemblages that explore our relationship with nature. Her recent work has concentrated on the sculptural possibilities of common milkweed pods, metaphorically presenting nature and humans coexisting in a state of balance and reciprocity.
Succession Leads Back to a Pond by Linsey Tankersley of Niles, MI

Linsey Tankersley of Niles, MI exhibits her collection of woodcut, collograph, monoprint, and etching prints in the Whitlow Gallery. Through her printmaking, Tankersley represents insights she gained through the observation of the natural world that has surrounded her. In bringing to life a vast history of birth and death hidden within all that lives, her works aim to visually resurrect the history of turning patterns and cycles which connects all living things.

Riverwalk Gallery (lower level)
Ginny Scott of LaPorte, IN exhibits her abstract acrylic works in the Riverwalk Gallery. Scott’s pieces challenge the viewer to look at abstraction differently. Her paintings allow the mind to let go and enter the work through its color, rhythm, and form, making viewing these pieces a meditative experience.

Doug Staples of Lawrence, MI exhibits his paintings in the Riverwalk Gallery. Staples’ exhibition presents a collection of oil on canvas and acrylic on canvas and paper in various sizes that reflect on the subtle interplay of light and the enduring nature of hope.
Here and There: A Photographic Retrospective by Gary Gnidovic of Dowagiac, MI
Skyview Gallery (upper level)
Gary Gnidovic of Dowagiac, IN exhibits his photographic works in the Skyview Gallery. Gnidovic’s images are photographic impressions made during his travels in the United States and abroad. His photographs encourage a deeper engagement with the subject through an economy of vision, the abstraction and simplification of black and white, and a direct documentary approach that allows room for questions.
