1st Source Bank Donates $25,000 to Lory’s Place
(ST. JOSEPH) – The 1st Source Foundation, on behalf of 1st Source Bank, headquartered in South Bend, recently donated $25,000 to Lory’s Place in support of grief healing and education services.The donation is part of a matching grant in which 1st Source Foundation has committed to match $1 for every $2 raised by Lory’s Place through the end of 2017, up to $50,000.
“We are pleased to be able to partner with Lory’s Place on this initiative because we see the value of the services they provide in our community,” said Kim Richardson, Regional Sales Manager, 1st Source Bank. “Grief touches everyone and when you have an organization that benefits so many people throughout so many walks of life, it really doesn’t get much better than that.”
According to Lisa Bartoszek, Director of Bereavement and Lory's Place, their staff is being called on more often to support communities during times of crisis such as the recent mass shooting in Kalamazoo. Funds from the donation will support the growth of a community crisis response initiative in Berrien, Cass, and Van Burien counties, and beyond, including the potential addition of a Crisis Response Leader.
“Lory’s Place is honored to be called upon by the communities we serve during times of need,” said Bartoszek. “The support provided by 1st Source Bank is about more than the monetary value – their generous donation is a huge encouragement to our organization and shows they believe in the work we are doing and see the many ways it benefits our community.”
About Lory’s Place Lory’s Place is a Grief Healing and Education Center of Hospice at Home, at Lakeland Health affiliate. Since opening on November 15, 2004, thousands of children from Allegan, Berrien, Cass and Van Buren counties in Michigan, as well as from northern Indiana, have taken the courageous step of accessing the bereavement resource services of Lory’s Place. With professional bereavement staff and trained volunteers, Lory’s Place provides regularly scheduled age-appropriate support group sessions that allow children and adults to interact with peers who have suffered similar experiences.
