Active Meth Labs Located in Alamo Twp.
On Tuesday, September 26, 2017, the Southwest Enforcement Team (East Team) made contact with a couple at their residence near Ravine Road and D Avenue in Alamo Township, Kalamazoo County. A subsequent interview led to the discovery of two clandestine Methamphetamine labs within the residence. The Methamphetamine labs were in an “active” state, meaning that the dangerous chemical reaction that produces methamphetamine was ongoing when the detectives made the discovery.
Specially trained detectives from the Southwest Enforcement Team were able to render the clandestine meth labs safe and conduct further investigation and suspect interviews.
All hazardous items were then removed from the residence and transported to a safe and secure hazardous materials storage facility.
During their investigation, detectives also located finished Methamphetamine, presumably from a previous clandestine lab; additional components and precursors to make more methamphetamine; and evidence of ongoing clandestine lab activity.
Charges will be sought for both suspects: a 44-year-old male and a 46 year old female. Names are being withheld until arraignment.
The Southwest Enforcement Team (SWET) is comprised of sworn law enforcement personnel from the Michigan State Police, Berrien County Sheriff’s Office, Barry County Sheriff’s Office, Calhoun County Sheriff’s Office, Kalamazoo County Sheriff’s Office, Covert Police Department, Kalamazoo Township Police Department and South Haven Police Department.
