Open Admission Shelter by the Michigan Pet Fund Alliance for the year 2012. The
award recognizes the achievement of increasing their lifesaving from a dismal 18.41 percent in 2011 to 63.23 percent in 2012.
The Michigan Pet Fund Alliance reviews the 2012 annual shelter reports that each licensed shelter is required to submit to the Michigan Department of Agriculture and Rural Development. From this report, the MPFA determined that the AlVan Humane Society was the most improved candidate out of all animal shelters in the state of Michigan.Founded in 1968, AlVan Humane Society is a nonprofit, animalwelfare organization,dedicated to providing emergency food, medical treatment, shelter and adoptive homes for displaced pets.
