Berrien County 4-H Foundation presents Always... Patsy Cline – Celebrating a Country Music Legend
Berrien County, MI, September 21, 2017 — The Berrien County 4-H Foundation, Inc. will host its Annual Autumn Theater Event on October 12, 2017 at the Acorn Theater, 107 Generations Drive, Three Oaks, MI. Doors will open at 6:00 EST with the performance at 7:15 EST. All tickets are $35 and include a social hour with heavy hors d’oeuvres, desserts, and silent auction.
Always… Patsy Cline is a musical play written and originally directed by Ted Swindley. This true story is based on the friendship between Patsy and her most devoted fan, Louise Seger. Always… Patsy Cline is filled with down-home humor, true emotion, and the story of a relationship many fans would dream of having with their idol. The show includes many of Patsy's unforgettable hits, including “Crazy”, “I Fall to Pieces”, “Sweet Dreams”, and “Walkin' After Midnight”. This tribute to the renowned country singer includes 27 songs and a live six-piece band.
Always…Patsy Cline allows the audience to see the real side of the legend who was simultaneously a regular mom and the Queen of Country Music. This performance will star regional greats: Mary Kay Steele and Michelle Gustin, along with an all-star band. Patsy was at the pinnacle of her career when she died tragically in a plane crash in1963. Her legacy lives on in her hit recordings which transcend the Pop, Country, Honky-Tonk, and Rockabilly genres.
Earlene Whorton, Theater Event Co-Chairperson noted that “we are fortunate to have such a supportive community. The Autumn Theater Event is a fun way for the foundation to support the local 4-H programs that help the youth in our community not only today, but into the future as well.”
4-H is known for ‘learning by doing’ and many of our community and county business, civic, and educational leaders gained their foundational skills through 4-H. The learning and growth that occurs as a result of completing a project, developing a new skill, or enhancing self-confidence are the hallmarks of being #4HGrown. In addition to the social and civic skills gained through club meetings conducted with parliamentary procedure, service projects, and competitive events, the friendships forged through #4H last a lifetime.
“The Berrien County 4-H Foundation is a huge asset to the Berrien County 4-H program. The financial support from the foundation aids in facilitating many of the local youth development programs today,” said Marilyn Hurrle, Theater Event Co-Chairperson.
The Berrien County 4-H Foundation, Inc. is a 501(c)(3) that finances 4-H programs and activities throughout Berrien County. The Foundation is about people willing to invest time and resources in young people. Participation in events, like the annual Autumn Theater Event, make programs such as citizenship, leadership, service training, regional and state event scholarships, and 4-H membership expansion possible.
