Benton Harbor Department of Public Safety Community Relations Forum Police Use of Force

The Benton Harbor Department of Public Safety will be holding a series of public forums to discuss the Police Use of Force. This will be a three part series and the objective is to inform the public about case law and other issues dealing with the police use of force. BHDPS desires to have open dialogue with the community to build a spirit of trust and cooperation between the citizens and the police department. With the recent national attention that has been focused on police and citizen relations, we feel it is important to have open dialogue with the community we serve.

The forum format will be a brief presentation on some case law regarding the use of force. There will also be some video footage of real incidents for the group to discuss. An open session for citizen questions and comments will follow. This event will be held in cooperation with the Advocates and Leaders for Police and Community Trust (ALPACT) and the NAACP. All citizens are welcome.
