Blossomtime Shoe Box Float Parade

WHEN:

Line up: Monday, April 30th no later than 4:15 p.m.

at State Street in front of Jimmy Johns

               Parade Time:  4:30 p.m.

PARADE ROUTE: Downtown St. Joseph on State Street

                          between Broad and Ship Streets

CATEGORIES:Preschool & Kindergarten, Grades 1-3 and Grades 4-6

Decorate a Shoe Box with the theme

“Roll out the Red Carpet” (for a person, place or thing)

Gather up a shoe box and decorate it to the best of your ability or join us for a float building workshop at Curious Kids’ Museum on Tuesday, April 24th from 3:00-6:00---you bring a shoe box, we’ll provide the supplies!

After the Parade there will be an Awards Reception at the Whitcomb Retirement Center where the winners will be announced

FLOAT SPECIFICS

All entries will consist of one decorated shoe box.  Either the inside or

            outside of the box may be decorated or both. Floats may be carried or pulled.

All entries must depict this year’s theme: “Roll out the Red Carpet” (a person, place or thing)

Entrants must line-up in front of Jimmy Johns on State Street on Monday, April 30th by 4:15.

Deadline to enter is April 23rd.

Entries will be judged on theme, effort, originality, beauty and child’s own work.

Suggested materials: tissue paper, cotton balls, construction paper, toothpicks, Popsicle sticks, tape, paste, crayons, paint, markers, pipe cleaners, crepe paper, small artificial animals or people, etc. etc.
