car vs. bicycle crash

LOCATION OF INCIDENT:            South 11th /   Bell Rd.  Niles         

AGENCIES INVOLVED:  Berrien County Sheriff’s Office, MSP, Niles Twp FD

NARRATIVE:

   The Berrien County Sheriff’s Office is investigating a car vs. bicycle crash in the intersection of S. 11th and Bell Road in Niles Township.  Justin Copper (18)(Niles) was riding a bicycle west on Bell Road when he crossed S. 11th Street and was struck by a southbound vehicle.  Judy Vallieres (54)(Niles) attempted to stop her vehicle prior to striking the bike rider but was unsuccessful.  According to witnesses the motor vehicle had the right away.

   Justin Copper was transported to Memorial Hospital in South Bend for serious injuries.   The case remains under investigation.
