Concealed Weapon Violation at Berrien County Courthouse

On May 30, 2017 at approximately 8:45 AM two subjects attempted to enter the Berrien County Courthouse with a loaded firearm inside a purse.  The firearm was discovered by Berrien County Sheriff’s Office Court Security Officer’s in the x-ray machine during the normal security screening process.  Once the firearm was detected the male subject grabbed the purse and attempted to flee the scene.  Both subjects were given verbal commands to stop and they failed to obey those commands as they fled the courthouse entrance.  Court Security Deputies and Bailiffs were able to apprehend both subjects in the courthouse parking lot without further incident.  A loaded semi-automatic pistol was recovered during the apprehension of the two suspects.  This incident remains under investigation.

Arrested:

Arnelda Dywayne Jackson, 40 years of age out of Wyoming MI, was arrested and lodged at the Berrien County Jail for the following charges.

          1) Carrying Concealed Weapon

          2) Resisting and Obstructing Police

          3) Felon in possession of a firearm

Molly Michiell Jackson, 37 years of age out of Wyoming MI, was arrested and lodged at the Berrien County Jail for the following charges.

1)   Carrying Concealed Weapon

2)   Resisting and Obstructing Police
