Cornerstone Alliance Welcomes Marla Schneider as New President and CEO
Cornerstone Alliance, Berrien County's premier economic development organization, is pleased to announce the appointment of Marla Schneider as its new President and Chief Executive Officer. Schneider brings a wealth of experience in economic development and private sector business management, having previously served as the President of Greater Muskegon Economic Development (GMED) and President of Three Rivers Distilling Co in Fort Wayne Indiana.
In her previous role at GMED, Schneider was instrumental in driving impactful initiatives that supported local businesses, attracted new investments, and fostered community development in Muskegon County. Her proven track record of success, combined with her strategic vision and collaborative leadership style, make her an ideal fit to lead Cornerstone Alliance into its next chapter.
“We are thrilled to welcome Marla Schneider to Cornerstone Alliance,” said John Janick, Chair of the Cornerstone Alliance Board of Directors. “Marla’s dynamic leadership and deep expertise in economic development will strengthen our mission to drive growth and prosperity throughout Berrien County. Her commitment to building strong communities aligns perfectly with our organization’s vision.”
As President and CEO, Schneider will oversee Cornerstone Alliance’s comprehensive efforts to attract and retain businesses, foster entrepreneurship, and create a thriving economic landscape in Southwest Michigan. She joins the organization at a pivotal time, with several transformative projects underway, including initiatives focused on business retention and expansion, physical development, and placemaking.
“I am honored to join Cornerstone Alliance and look forward to collaborating with the talented team, investors, and community partners to build on the organization’s incredible momentum,” said Schneider. “Berrien County is a vibrant region with immense potential, and I am excited to contribute to its continued growth and success.”
Schneider holds a Bachelor of Science in Information Technology from the Rochester Institute of Technology in Rochester, New York and has been recognized for her contributions to economic development by being named one of Crain’s Grand Rapids 200 Most Influential leaders in West Michigan for the past two years. While leading Three Rivers Distilling Co., the company was named Small Business of the Year in 2021 by Greater Fort Wayne Inc., the local Chamber of Commerce and economic development organization.
Cornerstone Alliance acknowledges and thanks Interim President Christina Frank, CEcD, for her exceptional leadership and dedication during the transition. Frank’s guidance ensured continued progress and stability for the organization during this important period. Christina will stay on in a senior leadership role at Cornerstone while she pursues her Juris Doctorate.
