  Detroit Tigers and National Law Enforcement Officers Memorial Fund Team Up for 6th Annual Law Enforcement Appreciation Night Los Angeles Angels vs. Detroit Tigers, Comerica Park, on June 7thDetroit, MI—On Wednesday, June 7, at 7:10 pm, the Los Angeles Angels will take on the Detroit Tigers, as the Tigers and Major League Baseball partner with the National Law Enforcement Officers Memorial Fund to host the 6th Annual Law Enforcement Appreciation Night, at Comerica Park. This special night is dedicated to honoring the service and sacrifice of law enforcement officers, correctional officers, and their families, while raising awareness and funds for the forthcoming National Law Enforcement Museum, which is currently under construction in Washington, DC. Pre-game festivities will feature a display of area police cars in front of Comerica Park. There will be a special helicopter flyover by the Michigan State Police and the United States Customs and Border Protection during the pregame ceremony and Michigan Lieutenant Governor Brian Calley will throw out the ceremonial first pitch. The game’s opening ceremony will be dedicated to honoring five Michigan police unions, as well as the 100 years of service by the Michigan State Police. The national anthem will be performed by Deputy Steven Curtis of the Oakland County (MI) Sheriff’s Department and the night’s Honor Guard presenting the colors will be from the West Bloomfield (MI) Police Department. Also honored at the game will be seven fallen officers from Michigan in 2016. These include Branch County Sheriff’s Deputy Michael Winter, killed in May; Berrien County Court Officer Ronald Kienzle, killed in July; Berrien County Court Security Supervisor Joseph Zangaro, killed in July; Detroit Police Department Sergeant Kevin Miller, killed in June; Sergeant Kenneth Steil, killed in September; Officer Myron Jarrett, killed in October; and Wayne State University Police Sergeant Collin Rose, killed in November. “We are excited to once again come to the ‘Motor City’ for a night of baseball and a chance to honor our local law enforcement officers for the sixth year in a row, especially those we lost last year,” said Craig W. Floyd, President & CEO of the Memorial Fund. “Each year the Detroit Tigers staff and ownership have shown extreme generosity in honoring law enforcement at these events to raise awareness of the hard work officers perform in serving and protecting citizens in Michigan and across the country.”The Detroit Tigers will donate $10 from each law enforcement ticket package sold directly to the Memorial Fund in support of the National Law Enforcement Museum.
