GhostLight Theatre Presents ONE PARTY CONSENT – A Jeff Award-Winning Play Directed by Steppenwolf’s Caroline Neff

This October, The GhostLight Theatre brings an acclaimed new work from the Chicago theatre scene to Southwest Michigan. ONE PARTY CONSENT, winner of the 2025 Jeff Award for “Best New Work”, is written by playwright Omer Abbas Salem and directed by Steppenwolf Ensemble member Caroline Neff. ONE PARTY CONSENT comes to the stage for a limited run at the GhostLight October 15th - 25th as well as a 1-night only run at The Acorn in Three Oaks on Thursday, October 29th.
TRUST IS TRICKY.
ONE PARTY CONSENT takes a prevocational look at truth, trust, and the fragile boundaries of human relationships. With Salem’s razor-sharp dialogue and Neff’s masterful, dynamic direction the play delves deep into the complexities of professional and person entanglements. It asks the questions we are often too afraid to voice: How much of ourselves do we truly surrender to the people we trust? And what happens xwhen the recordings-metaphorical or otherwise-are played back? This is a play about the degradation of trust.
“I hope that our audiences will perhaps walk away with a different opinion than the one they walked in with”, director Caroline Neff said. “I think particularly now in the year 2026 we have to start looking at the nuances of right and wrong, what is morally just and ethical, and that is particularly what I love about theatre at the GhostLight because the programming here is really powerful and dynamic.”

ONE PARTY CONSENT is a play written by Omer Abbas Salem, stage directed by Caroline Neff, associate directed by Paul Mow, costume designs by Megan Myers, set design and painting by Andrew Sawyer and Cindy Jakeway, technical and lighting design by Elena Hewett, Assistant Direction by Quinn Tabbert and Stage Management by Gabriel Wright, Jacqueline Crevier, Martel Burton and Triss Wright. The cast of ONE PARTY CONSENT features Shyanne Mitchell as Fola, Rebecca Maxey as Dean Ellen Healy, and Mairin Mendoza as Sandra/Ms. Brite with Mahalia Guidry as understudy.
General Manager/Artistic Director, Paul Mow also adds: “GhostLight’s seventh season continues to provide a great amount of story-telling entertainment and didactic experiences for our audiences and performers alike. Doors will open at 7:00 on weeknights and 2:30 pm on Sundays. Doors will open at 6pm with a 7:00 show at The Acorn. ONE PARTY CONSENT contains mature thematic material and language. The run time is approximately 85 minutes without intermission.
