Lakeland Hosts Seminar on Heel and Ankle Pain

Community members are invited to attend a free physician speaker series event presented by James Maskill, DPM, foot and ankle surgeon, entitled “Dealing with Heel and Ankle Pain.” The seminar will take place on Wednesday, February 3, from 6:00 to 7:00 p.m. in the Frederick S. Upton Education Center at Lakeland Medical Center, St. Joseph, located at 1234 Napier Avenue.

Dr. Maskill will discuss the latest treatments, from simple self-care to complex surgical options. Community members struggling with arthritis, fallen arches, and injuries, among other conditions are encouraged to attend.

“Many people with foot and ankle pain often believe that there are no treatment options available and choose to simply suffer through the pain,” said Dr. Maskill. “However, there are many conservative and surgical options available to improve a patient’s quality of life and help them return to their normal activity level.”

Dr. Maskill is currently seeing patients at Community Bone and Joint in St. Joseph. He is fellowship trained in complex hind foot and forefoot reconstruction, total ankle replacements, and foot and ankle trauma. He is a member of the American College of Foot and Ankle Surgeons, and has been published in the Journal of the American Podiatric Medical Association. Dr. Maskill completed his residency with Kaiser Permanente in the San Francisco Bay Area, California.
