LMC Theater Program holding auditions for fall production of Romeo & Juliet

The Lake Michigan College Theater Program will hold open auditions for the fall production of "Romeo & Juliet," directed by LMC Instructor of Theater Shalico Sain.

Students and community members are invited to participate in the auditions set for 6-8:30 p.m. Wednesday, Sept. 9, and Thursday, Sept. 10 in the LMC Mendel Center Hanson Theatre, 2755 E. Napier Avenue, Benton Harbor. Callbacks, as needed, are scheduled for Friday, Sept. 11.

While the College prioritizes casting full-time enrolled students, community members are strongly encouraged to audition. Due to mature language and themes, participants must be 13 or older.

Advance registration is encouraged through online sign-up. Drop-ins are permitted. An audition form, show details, and rehearsal information are available online.

Performances are Thursday, Nov. 12 through Sunday, Nov. 15. Rehearsals begin the week of Sept. 15. They will regularly run 6-9 p.m. Mondays-Thursdays, with occasional Friday-Sunday rehearsals a possibility.

Students and community volunteers interested in building the set or assisting with costumes, lights, props, or run crew should contact Sain at ssain@lakemichigancollege.edu.

About the Lake Michigan College Music and Theater Programs
Performing arts at Lake Michigan College allow students to reach new levels of excellence through classroom instruction and public performance. Many programs, including instrumental and vocal music, theatre, and dance, are based in the Lake Michigan College Mendel Center, the only performing arts center of its kind in southwest Michigan. Here, LMC students have opportunities to study the performing arts in a venue that attracts thousands of patrons annually.

Auditions are held for select ensembles that perform on the same stages as world-renowned touring acts. Students in any major also have opportunities to audition for Broadway musicals and plays and join two different vocal ensembles, string and wind ensembles, a pop-rock ensemble, and jazz band. One of only two colleges in Michigan to carry the prestigious All-Steinway designation, LMC has a team of highly qualified faculty that bring real-world expertise to the classroom.
