Narcotics Search Warrant

On 03-27-2015 Officers of the Berrien County Narcotics Unit with the assistance from the Berrien County Sheriff’s Department served a narcotics search warrant at the address of 1291 Jennings Avenue, in the City of Benton Harbor.  Narcotics Officers obtained information that controlled substances where being sold from the residence, after a three week investigation, Officers obtained a search warrant for the residence. 

At the time of the search warrant execution, Officers located six people in the residence.  A search of the residence recovered pills, drug use items along with drug sale items and a small amount of controlled substances.  Officers also located a loaded pistol / firearm that was reported as stolen in 2013 out of a local police department in Berrien County.  Officers also sized $2344.00 in US Currency. 

As a result of this investigation, Officers arrested Reenitta Smith for an outstanding warrant and will be seeking charges on her for possession of crack cocaine.  Willie Matthews was arrested for possession of crack cocaine 2nd offense and maintaining a drug house 2nd offense.  Tarone Washington was arrested for possession of crack cocaine, possession of marijuana, maintaining a drug house and possession of a firearm during the commission of a crime.

The report involving this case will be forwarded to the Berrien County Prosecutors Office for review of the charges.  The Berrien County Narcotics Unit asks that the names of the involved not be released until after the persons are arraigned on the listed charges.
