New Michigan Yarn Crawl Debuts October 7–17
New Michigan Yarn Crawl Debuts October 7–17, 2026, Connecting Fiber Artists Across Southwest Michigan and Northwest Indiana
A brand-new tradition is coming to the Michiana region: the inaugural Michigan Yarn Crawl (MYC), a self-guided adventure inviting knitters, crocheters, and fiber artists to explore nine independent yarn shops across Southwest Michigan and Northwest Indiana.
From October 7 through October 17, participants will travel shop to shop across the region, discovering unique yarns, patterns, and fiber finds while supporting small, locally owned businesses. Crawlers can also enjoy exclusive in-store deals, door prizes, and limited-edition swag at participating locations.
“As a passionate knitter and avid yarn hoarder, I’ve noticed a real resurgence of local yarn shops opening across Michiana, and it felt like the perfect time to organize a yarn crawl that promotes small, independent businesses,” said Jill Urbanski, Founder of the Michigan Yarn Crawl. “Each shop has its own personality, and the Michigan Yarn Crawl is designed to showcase these local shops and celebrate the fiber arts.”
As the first event of its kind for the region, Urbanski hopes the Crawl will grow into an annual tradition that brings fiber artists together and shines a spotlight on the area’s independent yarn shops.

Participating shops:
Michigan: Yarn on Front, Dowagiac; The Sandpiper, Fashion, Fiber & Gifts, Bridgman; Yarn Haus at Goodes & Heros, Three Oaks; and GarenHuis Yarn Studio, Zeeland, an honorary shop outside the Michiana footprint.
Indiana: Holly and Oak Yarn Co., South Bend; A Wee Bit Warped, South Bend; Kindred Wool, Goshen; Woolly Buffalo, Plymouth; and Three Moons Fiberworks, Chesterton.
The Michigan Yarn Crawl is designed to celebrate the Michiana fiber arts community and drive foot traffic to local yarn shops, many of which are small, independently owned businesses. For the full list of participating shops, event dates, and details, visit www.michianayarncrawl.com.
