Shirley M. Fredman Obituary

Shirley M. Fredman, 97, of Dowagiac, passed away Monday, September 14, 2026 surrounded by her loving Family.

Private Services and burial will take place at Keeler Cemetery in Keeler, Michigan. Memorial donations in Shirley’s name may be made to Hidden Acres Animal Rescue, 50582 Pleasant St., Dowagiac, MI 49047. Arrangements are entrusted to Starks & Menchinger Chapel, St. Joseph. Shirley was born February 1, 1929 in Blue Island, IL to Charles & Anna Jensen. She graduated from Blue Island Community High School, Class of 1947. On November 26, 1966, she married Eric E. Fredman. Shirley was a well loved and requested waitress at Keeler Keg & Kitchen in Hartford for many years. She was a long-time member of Keeler Methodist Church in Keeler and enjoyed organizing the Church dinners. In her free time, Shirley enjoyed golfing whenever she was able, baking, reading and rooting for her favorite Chicago Cubs.

Shirley is survived by her son Raymond (Laurie) Fleming of Dowagiac; numerous grandchildren & great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband Eric on December 12, 2009 and her daughter Diane Rae Schumacher on July 7, 2019, stepdaughters-Bonnie & Susie, and three grandchildren-Caroline, Steven & Caroline.
