Southwest Michigan Regional Airport Launches Director Tour
The Southwest Michigan Regional Airport is announcing the launch of its Director Tour, a new outreach initiative aimed at strengthening partnerships and building meaningful connections across Southwest Michigan.
Newly appointed Airport Director Christopher Beckman will be traveling throughout the region to meet with local leaders, community partners, and residents. The tour is designed to give the airport an opportunity to listen, learn, and better understand what matters most to the communities it serves, while reinforcing Southwest Michigan Regional Airport’s commitment to collaboration and regional growth.
In recent months, the airport has expanded its community engagement efforts through increased social media outreach and the hosting of multiple community-oriented events. This spring, the airport will further those efforts by hosting its first inaugural Harriet Quimby Women in Aviation Fly-In, scheduled for April 25, 2026, at the Southwest Michigan Regional Airport. The event will celebrate women in aviation while welcoming the community to engage with the airport in a new and meaningful way.

“Southwest Michigan Regional Airport serves as a gateway for our region, and it’s important to me to be present in the communities we serve,” said Christopher Beckman, Director of Southwest Michigan Regional Airport. “This tour is about listening, building strong relationships, and learning how the airport can continue to be a positive partner in supporting the needs and growth of Southwest Michigan.”
During the Director Tour, Beckman will visit the City of Benton Harbor, the City of St. Joseph, Royalton Township, Lincoln Charter Township, Benton Charter Township, and St. Joseph Charter Township. Additional stops may be added as the tour continues.
The airport is also inviting the public to help shape the tour. Community members are encouraged to share suggestions on where the Director should go, who he should meet with, and which community events, meetings, or local gatherings may be valuable to attend.
Suggestions can be submitted through an online form at https://forms.gle/tKVhycaBeV2Nnczg7.
The Director Tour reflects Southwest Michigan Regional Airport’s focus on building connections, strengthening partnerships, and growing together with the communities of Southwest Michigan. The airport looks forward to connecting with residents and partners throughout the region in the weeks ahead.
