St. Joseph High School musicals presents "Disney The Little Mermaid"
The award winning St. Joseph High School musicals presents Disney The Little Mermaid.
Based on one of Hans Christian Andersen's most beloved fairy tales and the classic animated film, The Little Mermaid is a hauntingly beautiful love story for the ages. With music by eight-time Academy Award winner, Alan Menken, lyrics by Howard Ashman and Glenn Slater and a compelling book by Doug Wright, this fishy fable will capture your heart with its irresistible songs, including "Under the Sea," "Part of Your World," and “Poor Unfortunate Souls.”
The shows will be performed on November 22nd at 7 pm and November 23rd at 2 pm and 7 pm at the St. Joseph High School’s John E.N. and Dede Howard Auditorium, 2525 Stadium Drive, St. Joseph, MI. Ticket prices are $5 for students, $15 for adults and $10 for seniors 62 and older. Cash and credit cards will be accepted to purchase tickets at the door. The students of St. Joseph High School’s musical theater department are Directed by Upton Middle School and St. Joseph High School Choir Director, Beth Gray-Roll. The musicals are performed annually, in the fall, for the schools and community. The St. Joseph Performing Arts Boosters support the program by raising money and helping with all of the behind-the-scenes needs. Johnson Rauhoff assists with the marketing of the musical by creating the posters and the musical program as well as taking the headshots of all of the students involved in the shows.
Last year’s Oklahoma! was nominated for 9 Wave Awards and took home one trophy for “Outstanding Set Design in a Musical.” Two years ago, Mamma Mia! was nominated for 8 Wave Awards, including “Outstanding Musical” and took home one trophy for “Outstanding Lead Actor.” The Wave Awards are presented by Lake Michigan College each year in the spring for area high schools and are similar to the Tony Awards.
