Twin City Players Awards Scholarship to Berrien County High School Senior

 

St. Joseph, MI – June 2, 2015 – The Twin City Players is pleased to announce that the Brian Swiger Memorial scholarship will be awarded to a Berrien County student. A $1,000 scholarship will be awarded to Rachel Thursby. 

Thursby is a recent graduate of St. Joseph High School. She has been active in TCP since childhood, wearing many different hats both on and off stage. Rachel has earned writing awards and served on the school newspaper, the Wind Up, as well as performed in the St. Joseph High School Musical for all four years of her high school career. Rachel will be attending the University of Michigan with a major in English in the hope of teaching high school and minoring in Drama.

The Twin City Players established the Brian Swiger Memorial Scholarship in 1996 in memory of former member Brian Swiger. The scholarships are earmarked for seniors graduating from Berrien County high schools who have demonstrated a strong interest in theater-related activities during their academic careers. Winners, however, can use the award money to pursue any field of study at any accredited college, university, trade school or arts education institution.

The scholarship is awarded based upon school and community activities, TCP involvement, grade point average of 2.0 or better and a short essay.
