By October 16, 1946, the first of the Nuremberg trials has been concluded. The judgment against twenty-two top Nazi officials accused of war crimes is done. Twelve have been sentenced to death, including Joachim von Ribbontrop, Julias Streicher, Wilhelm Keitel, & Earnst Kaltenbrunner. Herman Goering, Reichsmarshall, has cheated the hangman by taking his own life. Seven others received prison sentences ranging from ten years to life imprisonment. Still to come are 12 more trials of 177 diplomats, generals, SS officers, high Nazi officials, doctors, judges, directors of IG Farben, and leading German business and professional men whose cooperation was essential to the success of the Nazi conspiracy. Judgment at Nuremberg by Abby Mann centers around a newly appointed American jurist, Judge Dan Haywood, to the Nuremberg court; his experiences living among the postwar Germans, as well as the trial of an internationally respected German jurist, Ernst Janning.
Show dates are January 22 - 31, 2027, Friday & Saturday at 6:30 pm and Sunday at 2 pm. Tickets available soon at twincityplayers.org. Judgment at Nuremberg is presented by arrangement with Concord Theatricals on behalf of Samuel French, Inc.
