Twin City Players Wins State AACTFest Competition,

Requests Community Support

to Advance to Regional Competition

Last weekend Twin City Players participated in the 2025 Michigan AACTFest in Bay City. AACTFest is a festival sponsored by the American Association of Community Theatre (AACT). AACTFest presents a forum for community theaters to enter productions for adjudication and advancement from the state level to the regional level and finally, to the national level. Scott Bradford, TCP Board President, explains that AACTFest is getting the chance to perform with groups from around our state, share talents and experiences, meet new and old friends and be exposed to plays and musicals you may see on the TCP stage in the future.

On March 2nd, TCP's entry, A Measure of Cruelty by Joe Calarco, was received in an amazing way. AACTFest Adjudicators awarded TCP Outstanding Achievements for excellence on stage. A Measure of Cruelty took home awards for Direction, Ensemble Performance, Set Design, Sound & AV Design, and - not 1 - but 2 Leading Role Performers, and an invitation to the Regional AACTFest in Owosso, MI in just 3 weeks.

TCP is looking for financial support from the community to attend the Regional AACTFest. The cost for the set, properties, registration, transportation, hotels, and food for 8 people was over $3,500 at the State AACTFest level. They are looking to raise an additional $3,000 to attend Regionals and is asking for contributions of any amount. Donations will go a long way to help TCP travel and participate in the Regionals that are scheduled for March 21-23, 2025.

Participating includes the possibility of participating in the National AACTFest in Des Moines, Iowa in June. (The AACT Festival Endowment Fund provides financial assistance to help groups attend the National AACTFest, but not Regionals.) If anyone has any questions about A Measure of Cruelty, or AACTFest, email Scott Bradford at scotabrad@yahoo.com

Please visit www.twincityplayers.org and click on DONATE (might be under hamburger menu on mobile devices). Select the dropdown box next to APPEAL and select AACTFest A Measure of Cruelty, before making your donation. Check contributions can be mailed to TCP, PO Box 243, St. Joseph, MI 49085 (please write AACTFest on check).

A Measure of Cruelty is presented through special arrangement with TRW Plays, 1180 Avenue of the Americas, Suite 640, New York, NY 10036, www.trwplays.com.

The show is directed by Scott Bradford, assisted by Tech Director Marty Golob, Set Dresser Wendy Golob, Backstage John Taylor, Lights/Sound Tech Johnna Bither, Vocal Coach Alexa Liberi, and Audio Production Liam Diefenbach.

Cast members are Jorin Tabbert, Jarad Medukas, and Lloyd Bolick.

Show Sponsors are Bradford Insurance Agency and Trilogy Counseling.
