Vacant G&G Grocery Store Fire
2nd Alarm Fire - 861 Buss - Vacant G&G Grocery Store
At 0638hrs on Sunday the 15th, the Benton Harbor Dept of Public Safety, Benton Charter Twp. FD and the St. Joseph Dept. of Public Safety were dispatched to a report of a structure fire at the vacant G&G Grocery Store at 861 Buss. BHDPS units arrived at 0640hrs and found heavy smoke and fire coming from the vacant building. Firefighters operated in a defensive mode for the entire operation, protecting nearby homes and using 2 ladder trucks to bring the fire under control. Two homes, a garage, and a car had exterior damage, but no damage was done inside the structures. BHDPS used our thermal imaging drone to help find hot spots and for aerial views of the view. There were no injuries.
