Jimmie Lee Baiers Obituary

Jimmie Lee Baiers passed away peacefully in his home on September 17th, 2026 at the age of 82. Jimmie was surround by those who love him and kept his witty sense of humor right up until the end.

Jimmie was born to Jacob and Elsie (Kepp) Baiers on July 30th, 1944 in Benton Harbor, Michigan. He graduated from Benton Harbor High School in 1962 and enrolled in the army. Jimmie was discharged from the Army on the day of the John F. Kennedy assassination, something he would never forget. After the army, Jimmie got a job at Michigan Bell where he spent his entire career.

Jimmie was active in the lives of his children. He enjoyed coaching and cheering them on from the sidelines. He also loved to travel, and he and Jean were lucky to have had the opportunity to take many vacations over the years. Jimmie’s true passion was mini bottle collecting. He traveled all over the country to bottle shows. His most memorable trip was to Scotland with his good friend Brian. Over his years of collecting, Jimmie curated a collection of over 6,000 mini bottles, all proudly displayed at his home. Through his collecting, Jimmie met many people from all over the world, many of whom he considered close friends. In addition to bottle collecting, Jimmie found joy volunteering at the food bank, working out at Planet Fitness (where he was sure to bring snacks to share) leaving treats for his mail person, and spending time with his family.

Jimmie was an active member of Trinity Lutheran Church in St. Joe and could always be found before and after service handing out candy to the children and making conversation with anyone who would listen.

Jimmie was preceded in death by his parents, Jacob and Elsie Baiers; his siblings, Vernon, Robert, and Margaret Baiers; and his eldest son, Anthony (Scott) Baiers.

Jimmie will be lovingly remembered and deeply missed by his children, Molly Shaw (Tanner Sprouse) Shawn (Amanda) Baiers; his grandchildren, Brandon, Taylor, Cameron (Skyler Haduch), and Lucy Baiers; Emma, Claire, Jillian, and Harrison Radde; Justin Stout; and Nathan Olmstead; his great-granddaughter, Scarlett Baiers; and his cherished extended family, Angela Baiers, Julie (Chris) Flaga, Jennifer (Rich) Feaster, Jon (Yvette) McCoy, and Courtney (Matt) Radde. A celebration of life will be planned for a later date. For those wishing to honor Jimmie’s legacy, donations may be made to Trinity Lutheran Church.
