Attempted Murder,Flee & Eluding, Assault & Battery on Locust St, Three Oaks

On June 17, 2014 at 0336 hours, Sheriff’s Deputies Kovac and Perez responded to the Village of Three Oaks for a MDOP in progress with possible gunshots,  while en route, Deputies were updated that the suspect was in the parking lot of the an apartment complex on Locust St.  As Deputies arrived, they observed the suspect swinging a baseball bat at a crowd of people.  The suspect was ordered at gunpoint to drop his weapon and get on the ground.  The suspect was able to get into his vehicle and flee the scene leading police on a pursuit south on Three Oaks Rd.  The suspect lost control of his vehicle on Martin Rd near Basswood and crashed.  He was then taken into custody without incident.  Thru investigation at the scene, it was determined that the suspect, Brock Thompson, 23 yrs of age from Galien was intoxicated and starting smashing out car windows and then assaulted 2 other subjects near the intersection of Nel’s Rd & Locust.  He then got into his car and went back towards the initial scene and ran down another victim with his vehicle striking the victim with the front end of the car causing minor injuries.  Thompson then tried to run down another individual before exiting his car and starting swinging a bat trying to hit subjects in the crowd as police arrived.  When the incident was complete, Thompson had shattered several windows on a vehicle, assaulted 2 subjects with his hands, one subject with a bat and 2 subjects with his vehicle.  Thompson was lodged in the Berrien County Jail and charged with 2 counts of Attempted murder, 1 count of Assault with a deadly weapon, 2 counts of Assault and Battery, MDOP to vehicle, Fleeing/Eluding police and Intoxicated driving.
