Cynthia Atkins Mitchell Obituary
Cynthia Atkins Mitchell, 67, of Stevensville, Michigan, passed away on August 30, 2026. She was born on October 17, 1958, in Evansville, Indiana. Cindy spent her formative years in Fort Smith, AR, graduated from Saint Joseph High School in 1976, and was a member of Stevensville United Methodist Church.
Cindy retired after 42 years with First American Title Insurance Company, where she forged lasting connections with coworkers and customers. Her calm, organized, and friendly demeanor made her exceptional at her work. She had an unwavering work ethic, often working two or three jobs at a time early in her career. Cindy worked many years at Pizza Hut; even decades later, she ran into former regulars who remembered her warmth and kindness. Between the title company and Pizza Hut, Cindy knew someone everywhere she went, and she loved taking a moment to say hello and catch up.
She found joy in traveling, cooking for family and friends, playing games, attending live concerts and musicals, and catching the latest comedy movies in theaters. With her infectious laugh and generous spirit, she had a gift for putting others first, whether by choosing the perfect present to brighten someone’s day or creating moments that endure as lasting memories. Cindy embraced life wholeheartedly and shared her warmth with everyone around her.
She is survived by the love of her life, her husband, Tom Mitchell; her children, Patrick Fowler (Sarah), Grace and Faith Mitchell, Sarah Burdzinski (Matt), Ben Mitchell (Bekka), and Zach Mitchell; her grandchildren, Maddison and Maverick Mitchell, to whom she was lovingly known as Gigi; her mother, Marguerite Atkins; and her siblings, Jerri Lilly, David Atkins (Karen), and Lesley Ezrow. She also leaves behind her very special lifelong friend, Cecily Jenkins, and nephew and nieces who loved her dearly — Henry and Zoe (Rogelio) Atkins, and Leah and Gabrielle Ezrow — as well as countless dear friends whose lives she touched through her kindness, laughter, and generous heart.
She was preceded in death by her father, David Atkins Sr.
