EVENT “Fly Me to the Moon LEGENDS” September 6, 2025

"Fly Me to the Moon LEGENDS" will be presented at the Grand Upton Hall at Mendel Center in Benton Harbor on September 6th at 8pm. Quincy Jones launches the next chapter in a cherished tradition. Since 2019, the Citadel Dance & Music Center’s annual fundraiser has transported audiences to the golden era of jazz through the timeless music of Frank Sinatra. This year, we honor the expansive legacy of jazz by spotlighting the legendary Quincy Jones -master arranger, producer and longtime collaborator of Sinatra himself. With big band brilliance, spirited dancing and a club-inspired atmosphere, we invite you to celebrate the wonder of jazz and the legends who made it soar.  Featured are the Lake Effect Jazz Big Band, vocalists Andrew Fisher & Rebecca Selvidge, the Citadel Dance Companies, Citadel Strings and the LMC Vox Jazz Choir.

The Lake Effect Jazz Band is comprised of 22 musicians from Northwest Indiana & Southwest Michigan led by Steven Reed. LEJBB performs over 10 annual concerts and is the headliner at the Hastings & South Haven Jazz Festival.  Andrew Fisher, Citadel voice instructor, is a well-known area performer.  Rebecca Selvidge is Director of Choirs/Music Lecturer at Lake Michigan College. The Citadel Dance Companies are Citadel’s premier dance ensembles led by Lari Lawrence-Gist, Director of Dance. The Citadel Strings are comprised of faculty & students.

Sponsors include the Cook Nuclear Plant, Quarternote Lofts, Quinlan & Fabish, Rogers Foodland, Sturgis Bank St Joseph, Wales Wealth Management, and individual donors. Tickets are available at citadeldancemusic.ludus.com. Doors open at 7pm for the 8pm show. There will be a cash bar and small plates to purchase.

The Citadel Dance & Music is a 501.3c non-profit and provides year-round dance and music instruction to nearly 300 students of all ages and is located in the Benton Harbor Arts District.
