Frank John Ambler Obituary

Frank John Ambler passed away peacefully on July 9, 2026, at Woodland Terrace in Coloma surrounded by his loving family. The family wishes to thank the staff at Woodland Terrace Coloma and Hospice at Home for providing compassionate care during Frank’s final days.

Cremation has taken place and private services may be held at a later date. The family is being assisted by Duffield & Pastrick Family Funeral Home in Coloma. Frank was born on December 14, 1950, in Benton Harbor, MI to John Ambler Jr. and Rose (Sineni) Ambler. Frank attended St. John Catholic School and Coloma High School. He joined the Army and served in the Signal Corp. in Seoul, South Korea. Upon his return, he spent many years working in construction, with heavy equipment and at Lowe’s. His greatest achievement came in his service as a Lieutenant Reserve Police Officer with the Goshen police where he received an award for Reserve Officer of the Year. The Chief of police said they couldn’t say enough about Frank’s service. They said he was everything a reserve officer should be. Frank married Fran (Bertuca) Boothby 14 years ago and together they spent the best years of their lives working, traveling and enjoying life. Frank especially looked forward every year to the time they would spend in Mexico. He also loved traveling to Tennessee and Indianapolis to see his kids and grandkids. Frank and Fran enjoyed boating on Paw Paw Lake. Frank especially looked forward to taking his kids and grandkids tubing where the faster he went and the bigger the thrill, the better. Frank especially looked forward to cruising in his Corvette. He enjoyed entering his corvette in local car shows where he received awards, including the Peoples’ choice award. Frank was a friend to everyone he met. He was always quick to lend a hand when someone was in need. He was gifted in remodeling houses and installing landscaping. Frank took great pleasure in cooking for his family and friends. That love of cooking led him to his hobby of canning and freezing fruits and vegetables.

Frank will be greatly missed by the love of his life, his wife Frances (Bertuca) Ambler, his children Rachel (David) McMurtrie, David (Emily) Ambler and Margaret (Seth) Kizer and his grandchildren Emma, Lola and Liam McMurtrie, Breanna, Cadence and Scott Kizer, and Savanna, Greta, Jack and Luca Ambler, his sister, Karen (David) Heyn, step-daughters Christina Boothby (Tom Baptie) and Karen Boothby, and many brother and sister in laws, nieces, nephews, and cousins.

He was preceded in death by his parents, granddaughter Taylor Ambler, and former wife, Martha (Salee) Ambler.
