Harry Case Obituary
Harry Case, 86, passed away on August 31, 2026, after a life marked by family, faith, friendship, hard work, and a lifelong passion for automobiles.
Harry was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Doris Case; parents, Marjorie and Victor Case; brothers, Eddy (Lorina) Case and Randy (Dee) Case; and sister Agnes (Skip) Barker.
Harry is survived by his son, Kevin Case (Brenda); daughter, Tammy Wolski (Greg); grandchildren, Katie Mills (John) and Patrick Conner (Lyndsey); and great-grandchildren, Emma Mills and Miles Conner. He is also survived by his sister-in-law, Margaret (Dave) Froehlich; brother-in-law, Ronald (Paula) Schroeder; and nieces and nephews, David (Tracy) Froehlich, Lisa (Kevin) Gillette, Mark (Nancy) Schroeder, and Teri (Craig) Harris.
Harry dedicated 40 years of his working life to Contech Division in Dowagiac, Michigan. He began his career as a journeyman machine tool builder and eventually progressed into management. His exceptional mechanical aptitude and ability to solve complex problems allowed him to design and build die-cast machining centers. He took great pride in his work and in the knowledge and skills he developed throughout his career.
Outside of work, Harry's greatest passion was automobiles, particularly Corvettes. He was a proud member of Corvette Coventry of Southwest Michigan and SWMCC and enjoyed the camaraderie of fellow Corvette enthusiasts. Friday lunches with members of the Corvette club at Farmers Country Club were a tradition he looked forward to and greatly enjoyed.
Harry's love of cars went far beyond simply owning and driving them. He completed numerous automobile restorations throughout his life and took great pride in his mechanical abilities. He built a dedicated car repair bay where he spent countless hours working on vehicles and helping friends, family, and others with their car repairs. He was always willing to share his knowledge and lend a helping hand.
Harry was also a talented handyman who enjoyed home renovation and repairs. Another longtime passion was John Deere, and he proudly owned John Deere equipment for many decades.
Harry believed in giving his time and talents to his community. He was a member of the DANK and was always willing to lend a hand, whether it was mowing the lawn or helping with special events such as the annual fish fry. His willingness to simply pitch in and do whatever was needed was characteristic of Harry and the way he lived his life.
Faith was an important part of Harry's life. He was a longtime member and supporter of St. Paul's Lutheran Church in Sodus. Even through the difficult challenges of cancer and other health issues, Harry continued his participation in the church and remained strong in his faith.
Throughout his lifetime, Harry faced numerous health challenges, including cancer, heart issues, and intestinal problems that required surgeries and treatment. Through each challenge, he demonstrated remarkable strength and determination.
Harry will be remembered for his mechanical ingenuity, his love of Corvettes and John Deere, his strong work ethic, and, most importantly, his willingness to help others. He cherished his family, friendships, church community, Corvette family, and the many relationships he built throughout his life.
Harry will be dearly missed by his family, friends, church community, Corvette family, DANK community, and the many people whose lives he touched during his 86 years.
A Celebration of Life Service will be held at 11:00 a.m. Wednesday, September 9, at St. Paul's Lutheran Church, 3713 Naomi Rd, Sodus, MI with Pastor Sean De Frain officiating. Burial will follow at Mount Pleasant Cemetery, where Harry will be laid to rest beside his beloved wife, Doris. Friends may visit with the family Tuesday, September 8, from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. at Starks & Menchinger Chapel, 2650 Niles Rd., St. Joseph. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to St. Paul's Lutheran Church in Sodus or Michigan Lutheran High School.
