Hit and Run accident

On Thursday, 9-4-2014, Saint Joseph Department of Public Safety Officers were dispatched to Lakeland Hospital in regards to a two year old child that had been struck by a vehicle. The child was air lifted by helicopter to Bronson Hospital to be treated. The child was listed to be in stable condition.

The family informed officers they were walking on the side of Lakeshore Dr. near Hilltop Rd. at approximately 8:30 p.m. when a passing vehicle struck their two year old child. The vehicle was traveling southbound on Lakeshore Dr. and was described as a black or dark colored newer model SUV. The vehicle did not slow down or stop at the scene.
