"PENNIES FOR PATIENTS™ DAY CELEBRATION"

The Berrien County Cancer Service, Inc., is reminding all residents of Berrien County to save their pennies for the 25th annual "PENNIES FOR PATIENTS™ DAY CELEBRATION" to be held on Thursday, May 8, 2014 at BCCS headquarters - 7301 Red Arrow Hwy., Stevensville from 6:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. with live remote broadcast from WSJM - THE NEWS STATION.

The Niles Masonic Temple will be opening their lobby area for BCCS to host a collection reception.  On Thursday, May 8, 2014 from 12:00 noon – 2:00 p.m. Pennies for Patients™ donations may be brought to the lobby area of the Masonic Temple building – 227 ½ E. Main Street, Niles. Please enter the Masonic Temple at the 3rd street entrance.

In conjunction with our “PENNIES FOR PATIENTS™” fund-raiser, the Berrien County Cancer Service is conducting a Wheatback Penny auction. A container with $34 of 1958, & 1958 D (mint wrapped) pennies will be auctioned to the highest bidder. Bidding starts at $65.00 with auction ending at 6 p.m. Bids may be called in or emailed to staff@bccancerservice.org.

BCCS is a non-profit 501(c)(3) corporation providing skilled in-home nursing care free-of-charge for people of Berrien County who have a cancer diagnosis.  BCCS also has a loan equipment closet, wig and prosthesis bank and holds weekly support groups for patients and their families.  BCCS is funded entirely by local contributions and its services are available to local residents.

BCCS is funded by United Way of Southwest Michigan, donations, memorials and fund-raisers such as Pennies for Patients™.  Last year, $21,329 was collected!  We hope that the 2014 collection will be even more successful.
