Steven Vincent Shoemaker Obituary
Steven Vincent Shoemaker, 65 of Stevensville, Michigan unexpectedly passed at home from natural causes due to his many health issues. Steve’s soul is surrounded by family and loved ones on his journey.
A celebration of a life well lived will be held at 11:30 A.M. Tuesday, September 1, 2026 at Starks & Menchinger Chapel, 2650 Niles Rd., St. Joseph, with Chaplain William Croto officiating. Military Honors will be conducted by the Stevensville American Legion Post #568. Private burial will take place at a later date at Davenport Cemetery in Paris, MI. Steve was born on August 24, 1961 to Patty (Stanfield) and Richard Shoemaker in Reed City, Michigan. The family then moved to Rossville, Indiana where Steve grew up and graduated from Rossville High School, class of 1979. Steve was a proud Veteran who served in the United States Army.
He touched so many lives with his profound sense of humor, warmth, curiosity and his gregarious outgoing nature. He possessed a brilliant mind with disarming quick wit and determination. His happiest times were spent in a library or reading a book. Steve had a remarkable life filled with love, laughter and a good time was had by all. The food, drinks, & gambling were all parts of a life well lived. He had a generous soul and a passion for cooking with an adventurous taste for exotic foods. Steve worked in a variety of bars and restaurants throughout his life. He poured a good drink and always knew your name.
Steve married Pamela- the love of his life on August 25, 2007. They just celebrated their 19th wedding anniversary the day before his passing. Steve was a beloved and devoted husband to Pamela (Blaylock) Shoemaker, a loving and cherished father to Megan (Dwayne) Brown of South Bend, Indiana, precocious brother to Scott (Shirl) Shoemaker of Cokato, Minnesota & William Croto of Rossville, Indiana. He also leaves behind a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, aunts, uncles, and a vast array of friends too numerous to mention. Steve was preceded in death by his parents Richard and Patty Shoemaker, and brother Stacy Shoemaker.
“Steve filled my life (Pam) with many fabulous memories. He knew how to make me laugh and how to push my buttons. Steve’s personality was unparalleled to anyone I’ve ever met. He loved me fiercely and was my everything. Until we again sweetheart.”
Although gone, he will always be in our hearts. Steven Shoemaker was one of a kind.
