Twin City Players Plans Ribbon Cutting for its New Building, The Wardrobe

Twin City Players will host a ribbon cutting ceremony for its new costume and set building, The Wardrobe, on May 20 at 5:30 pm on the TCP Campus at 600 W. Glenlord Rd., St. Joseph, MI.

The ribbon cutting celebrates TCP’s new building that adds 1,600 square feet of space to Twin City Players, specifically for the purpose of increasing costume, furniture, and set piece storage. The expanded building will be available this summer, in time for the kick-off of TCP’s 93rd Season. The building expansion was constructed by Giannola Construction Services.

TCP is a regional resource for area theaters, churches, clubs, and organizations. TCP costumes are used by The GhostLight Theatre, Lake Michigan College theatre department, The Tin Shop Theatre (Buchanan), Beckwith Theatre Company (Dowagiac), as well as student productions at St. Joseph, Lakeshore, Buchanan, Bridgman, Our Lady of the Lake, and Berrien Springs schools. Several organizations, churches, and businesses have also used TCP costumes, furniture, and set pieces in many collaborative efforts, such as the Morton House Museum, Berrien County Historical Association, Lest We Forget SW Michigan, Krasl Art Center, Area Agency on Aging, and St. Joseph Today. TCP does not charge these theatres and nonprofit organizations a fee for the use of items, just an acknowledgment in their programs.

Guests attending the ribbon cutting can view the new building and enjoy some light refreshments. TCP received many generous donations and a matching challenge grant during a fundraising appeal that highlighted the urgent need for additional space. Donations to TCP can be made online at twincityplayers.org or by mail to TCP, PO Box 243, St. Joseph, MI 49085.

Scott Bradford, TCP Board President, says, “TCP is excited and awed at the outpouring of financial support from the community in building this addition. We have always been a local hub for costumes, props, and set pieces and now we can truly say that we are a Regional hub. So far in 2025, we have supplied props and set pieces to nine different schools and theater groups, as well as supplying costumes to nine groups. We have taken in more donated costumes from local groups, and we are recipients of unique furniture pieces on a regular basis. We hope to see a great number of community members at our "Grand Opening" and we hope to be able to add many more schools and groups to our list of those we help.”
