Women's Service League Executive Board Announced
SAINT JOSEPH, Mich - Women's Service League (WSL) of Berrien County has
kicked off their year by electing four members to their Executive Board for
the 2013-2014 seasons. Nicole Coar will serve as this year's president, along
with Karen Garlanger as Vic President, Jamie Brooks as Treasurer and Melissa
Buckingham as Secretary.
The dedicated members of WSL have volunteered their time and talents to
establishing many well-known events and meaningful services to Berrien
County. From Operation Coats to Charity Ball, each effort brings WSL one-step
closer to helping other civic and charitable organizations attain their
goals. Over the years numerous groups in Southwest Michigan have benefited
financially and structurally from the support of WSL.
Philanthropic work is the cornerstone of Women's Service League. WSL will
sponsor a variety of events this year for Berrien County. Operation Coats is
one of the largest events the group coordinates. It took place the whole
month of October and wrapping up on November 7th. It was a huge success.
Other volunteer efforts include Charity Ball on February 8th and Naschair on
May 16th that will be supporting the Therapeutic Equestrian Center.
Women's Service League, founded in 1931, is a not-for-profit organization of
talented women committed to promoting volunteerism and improving the
community through positive action and leadership. Their mission is “to
bring awareness and support to civic and charitable events and organizations
that address the education, health and well being of Southwest Michigan.”
To date, hundreds of organizations have benefited from the work of WSL as we
have raised more than $625,000 for charitable organizations in our
communities. The group is made up of approximately 45 active members living
in Southwest Michigan and over 95 life members.
