Carl G. Dollar Obituary
Carl G. Dollar, 88, of St. Joseph, passed away, Thursday, August 20, 2026 at Corewell Health Lakeland Hospital in St. Joseph.
A Celebration of Life Service will be held 2:00 P.M. Thursday, August 27, 2026 at Starks & Menchinger Chapel, 2650 Niles Rd., St. Joseph, with Rev. Bill Bridgman officiating. Burial will follow at Riverview Cemetery in St. Joseph. Friends may visit with the Family from 1:00 until 2:00 P.M. Thursday at the funeral home. Carl was born September 6, 1937 in Hackleburg, Alabama to James & Minnie (Roberson) Dollar. He graduated from Hackleburg High School, Class of 1956. On November 25, 1960, he married the former Marilyn Hauschildt in Mapleton, Iowa. Carl was employed for thirty-six years at Gast Manufacturing in Benton Harbor, retiring in 1999. He worked part time at The State Theater & Starlite Drive-In in Benton Harbor, and after retirement, he was a funeral associate at Kerley & Starks Funeral Home & Legacy Funeral Service for many years.
Carl is a member of FOP Lodge #96 in St. Joseph and The Royal Order of Moose Lodge #1570 in Benton Harbor, and a former member of First Baptist Church. Carl enjoyed his trips back to Alabama to visit his family. He lived in St. Joseph, but his roots were always in Alabama. He was a true people person who never met a stranger. He will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved him.
Carl is survived by his children-Lora (Tom) Heinz of Benton Harbor, Lisa Lynch & Brian Dollar, both of St. Joseph; his grandchildren-Thomas Lynch, Barry Lynch, Meghan (Vincent) Ball, Andrew Dollar, Morgan Dollar; great-grandson Riley Ball; numerous nieces & nephews. He was preceded in death by his wife Marilyn on May 5, 2018, his parents James & Minnie, and eight siblings-Jantice, Lumos, C.R., Elvin & Neal Dollar, Myrtle Weems, Iva Lee Brumley & June Wolf, and a special cousin that he loved as a brother-Dale Roberson.
